The Stichting Markering Houten Verpakkingen (SMHV) was established in 2003 on the instruction of the Dutch government and implements the Marking Programme in the Netherlands in accordance with the International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures for Wood Packaging (ISPM 15).
The International Standard ISPM 15 sets out measures to guarantee that no living vermin can be spread by means of wooden packaging. Wood used for the manufacture of wooden packaging must be treated and marked before it can be used for international transport. Packaging with such markings does not require any phytosanitary certificates or plant passports. Users of wooden packaging with a marking can be assured that the wood used satisfies the international standard. We are registered in the central register of the SMHV under reference number 037.
